About Asia Pacific Media Services

Asia Pacific Media Services is a Hong Kong-based media syndication agency covering everything from regional security issues to local culture. Our main clients are well-known regional and international publications such as the Far Eastern Economic Review, the Asian Wall Street Journal, Jane's Defence Weekly, Jane's Intelligence Review, and Strategic Comments.

Asia Pacific Media Services maintains its Southeast Asia bureau in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai, right in the heart of the region. Our expertise stretches from the Indian Subcontinent to the Pacific islands, and from Australia to Mongolia.

Asia Pacific Media Services provides articles as well as books, and also undertakes special research projects for individual clients.

Writers

Bertil Lintner, Asia Pacific Media Service's main writer, is a Swede who has lived in Asia since 1975. He is the author of seven books and numerous booklets, and his articles have appeared in more than a hundred newspapers and magazines in Asia, Australia, North America and Europe.

Lintner served as President of the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT) from January 1993 to January 1995 and is now a resident of Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Wendell Minnick (wendellminnick@yahoo.com) has made a career covering military and intelligence developments in Asia, particularly as they affect the balance of power across the Taiwan Straits. From 2000 to 2006 he served as Taipei correspondent for Jane's Defence Weekly. In April 2006 he was appointed Asia Bureau Chief for Defense News. His articles on security, intelligence and Asian affairs have appeared in numerous print and online journals. He is the author of Spies and Provocateurs: A Worldwide Encyclopedia of Persons Conducting Espionage and Covert Action, 1946-1991 (McFarland, 1992).

Velisarios Kattoulas (veli@gol.com) graduated with honors in Japanese and Economics from the University of London in 1993. A stint as a fund manager in the City of London was followed by staff positions covering Northeast Asia for Reuters, the International Herald Tribune and Newsweek. Since 1999 he has worked as a freelance writer, focusing almost exclusively on organized crime. His work has appeared in publications including the Far Eastern Economic Review, The Guardian, Time, The Washington Post and The Sunday Times Magazine (London). He has also taught at Temple University Japan in Tokyo, and worked as a consultant to leading investment banks. Velisarios is just completing his first book, about the yakuza's role in Japan's decade-long recession.
